Ellie Brodie
Policy, strategy & research consultant
HELLO EVERYONE
Hi! I am Ellie, a public policy, strategy and research consultant. I work with charities, organisations and individuals wanting to make changes in policy and practice, with a particular focus on the environment, communities, health and wellbeing and in wider civil society. I can support you with work on topics from climate change and nature’s recovery to food and farming, as well as on community power, health and wellbeing and volunteering.

I am passionate about the environment and about people, places and communities. I have spent much of the last 15 years of my career working to influence government policy and on-the-ground action to enhance the environment for its own sake and to improve the places people live and opportunities they have there. This has included holding senior policy, research and consultancy roles at The Wildlife Trusts, SRUC, Scotland’s Rural College, NCVO, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and the Office for Public Management (OPM).
In these organisations I developed policy analysis, campaign and comms messages and research reports; designed and led evaluations and stakeholder engagement strategies and advocated for change at the highest levels of Government and in the media.
I’m a confident facilitator and communicator with media experience (e.g. interviews on Channel 4 News and Countryfile, articles and quotes in The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Times). I’ve given evidence to Select Committees, provided thought leadership through writing (e.g. Vision for Volunteering), blogging (e.g. Inside Track, Wildlife and Countryside Link) and spoken at many conferences (e.g. Oxford Real Farming Conference).
I use my varied knowledge and experience in a consultancy capacity to help organisations and individuals make change. Alongside my consultancy practice, I’m a trustee of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
